What’s your nude?
It’s a question every woman will find an answer to at Bits of Lace. The “What’s Your Nude” movement has spurred the attention of media, retailers and lingerie manufacturers across the country. As a specialty boutique, Bits of Lace takes pride in carrying a wide variety of merchandise to suit the many diverse needs of women in our community. As a female operated business, we’re aware of just how important a dependable, everyday “nude” bra is to a woman. In saying this, we acknowledge that there truly is a lack of brown lingerie for African American women. We are working diligently to bring additional lines and collections into our boutique to answer the call for brown bras.
Bits of Lace’s management team just returned from a trip to the buyer’s market in New York City. Here, they found some great lines that cater to African American women exclusively. We’re thrilled to have more options available to our women in the very near future. But for now, here’s what’s in store now: beautiful basics and fun fashion bras in the brown spectrum.
Our fitters find that customers with deeper skin tones enjoy Chantelle’s popular “Toffee” shade (seen here in the Essencia) or PrimaDonna and sister company Marie Jo’s “Cognac” color, produced in hundreds of styles and sizes through an H cup. Known for both a moderate price point and amazing fit, Simone Perele offers the Andora Bra in a rich chocolate hue, “So French.”
Our favorite brands’ fashion-forward spring designs show many new shades of brown: a sign that your voices are being heard loud and clear. This season, we are seeing beautiful shades of brown from Prima Donna (check out the sexy, stylish Wonderland Collection in “Beauty”) and Marie Jo (wait until you see L’Aventure Astor’s stunning almond color “Summer Glow” in person.) Italy’s haute lingerie company, Cotton Club, delivers a lace fashion bra this season, Plumpello, brown and beautiful with floral embroidery. Also in the Marie Jo family, is Ginger, a color recently seen on one of our favorite collections, Tom.
Take the Bits of Lace Nude Challenge! Visit our boutique for a fitting and we’ll find you your very own nude.
Fitting Tip: Looking for a bra to disappear underneath clothing? We urge women with deep skin tones to try on a bra in “Cognac.” You’ll find that this color blends beautifully with dark skin and slips out of view beneath white or light clothing, regardless of your skin tone.
