Our trip to New York was a total success!  Zee and Erin had a blast attending the Curve NY Designer Swim and Lingerie Show, exploring the city and enjoying delicious cuisine! They arrived to a misty, light rain and made their way to check in at the New Yorker where they would enjoy their stay. The trip started with a taxi ride to Soho to do some shopping and strolling at the Pearl River Asian Mart. Zee scored a tea kettle for a friend and they headed back to the hotel.

After freshening up a bit they took a walk down to Central Park entrance at 57th and 8th.  They flagged down a guy with a bike rental sign who led them to a room filled with bikes. The weather was beautiful, with the sun shining and a light breeze.  It was a perfect day for a bike ride. They rode around the entire circumference of the park, about 6 miles!  After returning the bikes, they hurried to catch cab to the Copper Chimney, an Indian restaurant they frequently dine at when visiting NYC. Previous Bits of Lace employees Maria and Kelsey dined with us as well as Shelley, who owns I C London in Charlotte. Maria’s husband, Don, and Erin’s cousins Harold and Kelly joined too. They chatted with Shelley about business, and she filled them in on her new location at South Park Mall over dessert!

Day two was filled with appointments at Curve NY from 9am-6pm! They had the opportunity to meet with so many of our wonderful vendors and were able to get a sneak peak at their spring lines. Josie and Natori stood out with bright colors, soft fabrics and cute prints. Munki Munki had some fabulous, unique prints at great price points! That night they were invited to The Best of Intima Awards. They sat at the Conturelle table with Marta and six other store owners. Bits of Lace was a past recipient of the Best European Flair award! The emcee asked Zee to present the Best Community Outreach award, which went to LiviRae from Double Divas in Atlanta. They enjoyed a delicious three course meal and listened to boutiques across U.S. and Canada win awards.

They met with more vendors during their second day at the show. We are excited to pick up the Yummie Tummie smoothing thong and panty. It’s controlling but still great for everyday and super smooth. Christine Vancouver stood out in beautiful vivid colored silks. They had an adorable pink pajama set with black polka dots that were a favorite. BedHead showcased an awesome spring line with fun prints that included one with little multicolored love birds. Moms will love the new Anita nursing bras with cute prints. That night they met up with Zee’s friend from high school at Baracca, a Spanish tapas restaurant. The evening ended with a walk down the highline back to the hotel.

At their last day at the show Hanro and LaPerla really stood out. Hanro has some awesome new fabrics in long and short gowns. The LaPerla showroom was amazing! Rich colors like emerald green and cobalt blue combined with luxurious fabrics and texture made their pieces pop. The Prima Donna swimwear line was very cool and featured cute colors and versatile tops and bottoms. We can’t wait for spring 2014 and know that you will love it as much as we did!
