Bits of Lace has partnered with the National Race to End Women’s Cancer, an annual run/walk that benefits the Foundation for Women’s Cancer.  Join us for “Cupcakes & Cocktails” on Thursday, September 12th with some very special guests including: Angela Newnam Founder & CEO of Knock out! Panties, Miss South Carolina USA Megan Pinckney, Mrs. Charleston Kristen Hopson, Dr. Jennifer Pierce GYN Oncologist at MUSC and Michelle Daletski from Simone Perele. There will also be fabulous promotions offered by Stella & Dot and It Works! body wraps, with proceeds going to the Foundation.

Did you know that in 2013, an estimated 91,730 women will be diagnosed with a gynecologic cancer and some 28,080 will die from this disease? This number is alarming and a wake-up call for women everywhere. September is Gynecologic Cancer Awareness Month (GCAM) and Bits of Lace has joined this movement to support an amazing cause that often goes unrecognized.  These “below the belt” cancers receive a fraction of coverage and research funding as other cancers with similar incidence rates.

But, there is also good news! Cervical cancer is almost entirely preventable through early vaccination and routine screening.  We urge you, please conduct regular self-examinations and annual screenings and join the movement to end women’s cancers. The Foundation was primarily established to increase funding for gynecologic cancer research, but since has expanded to include raising awareness and educational programs to aid in prevention and early detection. Join the movement and shine a bright light on GYN cancers!
