Since its debut in 1976 (the same year Bits of Lace opened!), Piccolo Spoleto has been a must-do event for residents of Charleston and beyond. The annual two-week long festival features a full schedule of world-class performances ranging from art and music, to dance and theater. In honor of our mutual 40th anniversaries we’ve put together a few of our favorite pieces inspired by some of this year’s exciting Spoleto events!

Porgy & bess

Porgy & Bess has been the most buzzed about event of this year’s festival, and for good reason. In the opera “Visual Designer Jonathan Green takes us on a journey from the streets of the Charleston we know to a Charleston that reveals the roots, strength, and character of the Gullah community.” The vibrant colors, unforgettable music, and bold themes of the opera could only be represented by our show-stropping Marie Jo L’Aventure Andreas bra. This sassy number features “fine fabric, cheerful stripes in exotic colors, a dark blue band, and playful cuts… it’s almost too gorgeous to hide under your clothes”!

Garden tours

It’s no secret that downtown Charleston is a treasure trove of tucked away beauty just waiting to be discovered. These exclusive tours give you a once in a lifetime chance to go behind the “hidden behind ivy-covered walls and artful wrought-iron gates in some of Charleston’s most charming gardens”. In honor of this exciting event we chose the delicate, ethereal Marie Jo Eleanor bra which “mixes exceptional Leavers lace and a hip floral print”.

Chamber music

You can’t have a proper arts festival without a classical music performance! In this year’s chamber music series “Nutgall’s ingenious programs delight every ear and expand every mind that experiences them, and are a joyful example of the true spirit of chamber music.” When searching for a piece that could embody the classic, lyrical quality of chamber music we chose the Simone Perele Wish bra. “This show-stopping embroidered triangle contour bra is a masterpiece of French style and seduction”.

Wells Fargo Finale

The festival wraps up with an afternoon/evening of music, food, and fun at one of Charleston’s oldest plantations. Attendees can “explore Middleton Place’s stunning landscaped gardens and enjoy refreshments from the Beer Garden while local and regional bands play the main stage throughout the afternoon.” The casual, bohemian vibe of the finale necessitates comfort and casual style. To reflect this we chose the Eberjey Amaya bralette which is “so soft and light you barely know it’s there”. Definitely the perfect choice for warm summer temperatures.

Happy Spoleto-ing!
