The idea of “Spring cleaning” is not a new concept, most of us have attempted to tackle this project at some point. But, have you considered the concept of “FIFO” – First In, First Out. The first approach can be very overwhelming, where does one even begin? Cupboards, closets, bathrooms and not to mention the garage! The process can easily become daunting and downright tedious. So it got me thinking, what about “Holiday cleaning”? Now having a family the amount of newly added things after the holidays has grown exponentially. Toys, clothes, electronics, games, the list goes on. Then, to find a place for it all! I am anti-clutter so I had to find a way around this and stay clutter free all year long. I used to find myself thinking; how did we accumulate all this stuff? We adopted the household motto FIFO. A new pair of shoes comes in; an old pair of shoes goes out. It’s an “All-Year cleaning” approach that has worked quite well for our busy lives.

Ask yourself this, when is the last time you FIFO’ed your lingerie drawer? If cared for properly, a quality bra can last up to two years. There are some key steps in achieving this longevity:

  • Rotate your bras – seven is the suggested number, one for every day of the week.
  • Don’t wear the same bra two days in a row.
  • Wash them properly – for step-by-step washing instructions refer to our Bra Care Guide.
  • Invest in quality bras – a couple of our go-to favorites are Prima Donna and Marie the girls

A good brassiere is an investment and planning with your budget may be necessary. Our Bra Fit Specialists will help you find the perfect fit as well as guide you on how to complete your lingerie wardrobe in a way that works for you. So, as you update these undergarments be sure to FIFO any ill-fitting pieces. You can also bring them to Bits of Lace where we donate them to a wonderful charity, Free the Girls.

Stay tuned for next week’s blog for a detailed list on what is needed to complete your seven must have bras.
