|
| The four rules of thumb for a well-fitting bra |
- The Back Panel - The back panel should not ride up above the clasps at the front.
- The Cups - The breasts should fill the cups nicely, with a beautiful, fluent line between cup and breast.
- The Bra Clasp - The clasps and the front piece should be flat against the chest (not against the breasts).
- The Bra Strap - Straps must not be so tight that they pinch the shoulder or so loose that they fall off the shoulder.
Lingerie not only helps you look beautiful and seductive, but it is also functional because your breasts need a well-fitting bra.
Breasts are composed exclusively of soft tissue: skin, mammary glands, blood vessels, fat tissue and ligaments. The ratio between these tissues change with age, but breasts do not have a muscle or a bone to protect them from gravity or other forms of extreme pressure, like sports. That is why the breasts require external support from a well-fitting bra.
|
| The larger the breasts, the greater the need of good support. |
Breasts that are inadequately supported soon loose their shape and firmness, which is not aesthetically pleasing and may be painful.
What's your Bra Size? |
|
Find a tape measure, a trusted friend, and use our chart below!
1. While wearing your best fitting unpadded bra, measure your rib cage by pulling the tape measure snug, but not tight, around your rib cage just under the breasts. [ Example: 36 inches] The reason we say to wear a bra is that your measurement will differ when you are lifted in a bra.
2. Next, measure around the fullest part of your breasts (over the nipples; at the apex). [Example: 40 inches]
3. Use the chart below and find where those two measurements intersect. [36C]
- If you measure an odd number under the ribcage (31, 33, etc), we would recommend that for comfort purposes, you follow the sizes shown in the chart. You may be in between band sizes, so your size may also depend on the fit of the bra.
- Also, if the chart list 2 cup sizes, we would again recommend that for comfort purposes that you go up and use the larger cup size.
- We go in half-inch increments in the smaller sizes because those half-inches make a difference in the sizing of smaller cups.
- Once you find your size, check out which lines carry bras that fit you! See Bra Brands by Cup Size and Type.
